In St. Petersburg, a drunk traffic police inspector caused an accident with three dead

ST. PETERSBURG, June 19. The Primorsky District Court of St. Petersburg arrested traffic police inspector Alexander Tyulenev, who drove drunk and caused an accident where three women died, the joint press service of the city courts reported.
“The Primorsky District Court <…> granted the investigation’s request, electing Tyulenev’s guard until August 16, 2024,” the statement says.

As the press service clarified with reference to investigators, the accident occurred early in the morning of June 16 on Primorskoye Highway in the area of ​​the second building of house No. 85 on Lakhtinsky Avenue. Having exceeded the speed, Tyulenev lost control, after which his Audi A4 car collided with a concrete lighting pole, hit another and caught fire. Three passengers of the same car, aged 25-35 years, died.

On June 17, the culprit of the accident was charged under an article on violating traffic rules that negligently resulted in the death of two or more persons (part five of Article 264 of the Criminal Code).
It is noted that through Two days later, the investigation received a certificate from the hospital confirming the presence of ethanol in Tyulenev’s blood on the day of the incident. After this, his actions were reclassified under another part of the same article (clause “a” of part six of Article 264 of the Criminal Code), but charges have not yet been brought against it.
