
MOSCOW, June 14 Archaeologists discovered bottles filled with fruits and berries in the basement during the restoration of the mansion of the first US President George Washington, and dating back to the 18th century, Newsweek reports, citing the organization that manages the historical monument.
«During the restoration of a mansion in a historic estate located in Virginia, researchers discovered 35 18th-century glass bottles in the cellar,» the publication writes.
According to the article, 29 of the 35 bottles remained untouched and contained perfectly preserved fruits and berries, the age of which is estimated at about 250 years.
The publication notes that researchers had previously found two sealed bottles of liquid and cherries in the same cellar. The contents of all the bottles found were removed and frozen for further analysis.
