WARSAW, June 20. The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Polish administration are planning to create a secure, encrypted communication system that will allow the administration and rescue services to operate during war, the newspaper Rzeczpospolita reports.
«»Such a proposal appeared in the draft law on civil protection prepared by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Technical details are still unknown. The initial cost of an autonomous communication system, the construction of which could last until 2034, is 3.7 billion zlotys (almost 4 billion dollars). The Ministry of Internal Affairs also plans to create a system for warning and alerting the population about threats, including air attacks,» the newspaper writes.
The system is reportedly expected to cover the entire country, including critical infrastructure. It must ensure rapid exchange of information in real time and be resistant to cyber threats. Devices used for such communications must be certified by the Homeland Security Agency or the Defense Intelligence Agency.
«The idea is for the system to function even if existing communication systems are damaged, including from the point of view of the possibility of using shortwave and satellite communications,» the newspaper reports.
