
PYONGYANG, June 18 Russian President Vladimir Putin and the DPRK leader Kim Jong-un “competed” in gallantry at the airport when they decided who would be the first to get into the Russian president’s limousine; in the end, Kim Jong-un gave in to Putin, after which a motorcade of motorcyclists escorted them along the road from the airport.
The conversation between Putin and Kim Jong-un began at Pyongyang airport, then they approached the presidential limousine and both gestured for each other to get into the car. The leaders repeated their identical gestures several times; as a result, Putin sat on the right, and Kim Jong-un, smiling, walked around the back of the car and sat in the left rear seat. The Russian President and the DPRK leader left the airport together in one car.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived on a two-day state visit to the DPRK.
The main part of Putin’s program in the DPRK will take place on Wednesday, June 19. In particular, negotiations are planned in various formats, including in an expanded format, as well as informal communication between leaders, participation in a gala concert, and a visit to an Orthodox church.
The Russian President is accompanied on his trip by a representative delegation. The negotiations will be attended by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, Minister of Natural Resources Alexander Kozlov, Health Minister Mikhail Murashko, Transport Minister Roman Starovoyt, and there will also be representatives of large domestic companies, including the head of Roscosmos Yuri Borisov and Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov.
