The SUV, which differs from the Russian model, has conquered two new markets. In one of the countries, the model is offered exclusively with a hybrid installation, but in the second there is also a “traditional” version.
In May, Kolesa.ru reported that the Great Wall concern had brought to the New Zealand market a compact crossover of the Haval brand, which is known in its native China as the Chitu. The export version was given a name well known to Russians — Jolion. This decision seems somewhat logical, because these are related models that share the Lemon platform. So now the sales geography of the “other” Jolyon has been expanded: the five-door has become available in Australia and South Africa. It is curious that the “true” Haval Jolion is also presented in all of the listed countries, and it has just been updated in the likeness of the Russian crossover. Well, in order to somehow differentiate between the models, the cars were given different prefixes. Thus, in South Africa, the renamed Chitu received the “surname” Pro, and for Australians such a cross was offered as the Haval Jolion Hybrid or HEV. “Real” crossovers are Jolion City and simply Jolion, respectively.

The foreign Jolyon differs from the SUV intended for the Russian Federation in its radiator grille, bumpers and headlights, in addition, it has a single taillight plate. The length of the crossover is 4470 mm, which is only 2 mm less than our Haval Jolion. But the “other” SUV is wider (1898 mm versus 1874 mm) and taller (1625 mm instead of 1581 mm). The wheelbase of the cars is the same — 2700 mm. Inside, the crossovers generally repeat each other.

As you can easily guess from the “surname”, in Australia (and New Zealand) such an SUV is offered only as a HEV hybrid, that is, without the possibility of charging from the mains. The system includes a 1.5 petrol turbo engine, an electric motor and a DHT transmission; total output — 190 hp. and 375 Nm. In South Africa, the Haval Jolion Pro crossover has a similar modification, but at the same time, a “traditional” version is also available there — with a 1.5 turbo engine producing 143 hp. (210 Nm) in combination with a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches. And the “real” export Jolion is equipped with the same engine: the Australian SUV comes exclusively with 7DCT, the African one also has a six-speed manual. But all foreign Jolyons have only front-wheel drive, while our crossover is all-wheel drive.
