The Moscow Department of the Investigative Committee reported the death of a man due to a falling tree during a hurricane in the capital, an investigation is underway.
Later, the Moscow Health Department clarified to Interfax that two people died during the hurricane. Another 18 people were hospitalized in city hospitals, three of them in serious condition, the department added. Among those hospitalized are four children.
According to Mash, due to strong winds, a tree fell on a man on Ivanovskaya Street near Dubki Park. The victim died on the spot from his injuries; doctors did not have time to help him. Investigative officers are currently inspecting the site of the tree fall.
Telegram channel “112” also writes about the two dead. According to him, a total of 28 people were injured due to the hurricane. Dozens of cars were damaged. In the Sviblovo area, reports “112”, pieces of roofing torn off by the wind fell on a tram and two passengers were injured.
Baza also reports that trees fell on two cars — in one of them there was a pregnant woman, and in the second a man . Rescuers took both victims out of the cars — the man was hospitalized with injuries, and the woman was sent to the perinatal center.
According to the telegram channel, on Shirokaya Street a tree fell on a stroller with a child. A two-year-old boy suffered a concussion and was taken to the hospital. Due to strong winds, a dry closet also fell in Moscow — there was a man in it, and the Emergency Situations Ministry employees had already helped him.
The hurricane hit Moscow on the afternoon of June 20 — residents of the capital were advised not to go outside, and weather forecasters warned of strong downpour and a high probability of tornadoes.
