MOSCOW, June 20 Russians Pavel Datsyuk and Alexander Mogilny should become the main candidates for inclusion in the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto in the near future, according to journalists from The Athletic, the publication's website reports.
The publication's hockey department organized a «shadow» committee of the Hall of Fame of 18 people, which held elections according to the same rules as the real organization — a candidate can be included in the Hall of Fame who receives the votes of 14 out of 18 committee members.
Based on the results of the elections of the «shadow» committee of the publication, Datsyuk (15) and Mogilny (16) received the highest number of votes votes.
Datsyuk is 45 years old and is a two-time Stanley Cup winner with the Detroit Red Wings. With the Russian national team, the hockey player won the Olympic Games and the World Championship, becoming a member of the honorary «Triple Gold Club». He also won the Gagarin Cup with SKA St. Petersburg. Mogilny is 55 years old and is also a member of the «Triple Gold Club» — he won the Stanley Cup with the New Jersey Devils, and became a world champion and Olympic winner with the USSR national team.
In February 2022, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) suspended the Russian national team from competitions due to the situation in Ukraine. This suspension is currently in effect.
