SAMARA, June 17 Students from six countries will develop nanosatellite missions at Samara National Research University named after Korolev to predict hurricanes in the ocean and send femtosatellites to the upper atmosphere, journalists were told in press service of the Samara university.
“On Monday, June 17, the XVIII International Summer Space School opened at Samara University named after Korolev… School participants — international students from six countries — will attend a course of lectures from leading scientists and engage in practical projects — for example, regarding the possibility of using nanosatellites to track the emergence of over the oceans hurricanes and other similar natural disasters that threaten maritime vessels,” the university said in a statement.
This year, 19 foreign students are taking part in the school; Myanmar, from which a large team came, has been added to the traditional participating countries.
< br />The space school program will include practical exercises as well as team project work. Its participants, as part of teams, will study and analyze two projects for scientific missions of nanosatellites. In addition to the mission to predict natural disasters in the oceans, students can choose a mission to create a constellation of small spherical femtosatellites designed to study the density of the Earth's upper atmosphere.
At the end of the International Summer Space School, the teams will defend their nanosatellite projects before a commission of experts.
The International Summer Space School «Advanced Space Technologies and Experiments in Space» was organized by Samara University to develop international cooperation and create a unified educational space in the field of advanced space technologies. Since 2003, more than 500 young people from 45 countries have attended the school.
