Aion is a sub-brand of GAC, created several years ago specifically for electric trains. In April of this year, at the Beijing Motor Show, the premiere of the second generation Aion V crossover took place, but then they showed a car with tightly tinted windows and locked doors. Now another presentation has been held in China — a completely finished model. At the same time, branded images of the interior were published. Let us remember that the predecessor has been in service since 2020, and in 2021 the electric crossover had a version with a different design and the “surname” Plus, which subsequently replaced the original “simply” Aion V. Well, the “first” model also had an analogue from Mitsubishi , but this Japanese brand has already left China.

The appearance has been rethought: in the new generation, the Aion V ceased to look like a crossvan and acquired a more masculine appearance. But the interior is made in a style typical of today’s “Chinese”. The SUV retains separate screens for the instrument panel and multimedia system, although the first tablet has become smaller — obviously, the leading role is assigned to the head-up display. The new product also received a two-story central tunnel. A refrigerator is squeezed between the front seats. The list of equipment also includes a seat massager and a panoramic roof. Aion V also has the ADiGO Pilot complex, which includes five radars, eleven cameras and a lidar.

The SUV is based on the new AEP platform with a 400-volt electrical architecture. Compared to the previous generation model, the electric cross has noticeably shrunk. The length of the “second” Aion V is 4605 mm, width – 1854 mm, height – 1660 mm, wheelbase – 2775 mm. Dimensions of the previous Aion Plus: 4650/1920/1720 mm, distance between axles – 2830 mm.
According to preliminary data, the crossover will be offered with one electric motor, which will have two power options: 204 or 224 hp. There is still no information about the batteries, we only know that the new Aion V will be able to travel up to 750 km on the Chinese CLTC cycle. The predecessor is now available with an electric motor of 224 or 245 hp, the range of Plus batteries includes as many as five options (from 54.37 to 80 kWh), the rated range is from 400 to 600 km (but according to the outdated NEDC cycle).< br />
In China, orders for the new generation Aion V should open in July. The previous Aion Plus today costs from 149,900 yuan, which is equivalent to approximately 1.7 million rubles at the current rate. By the way, if its predecessor is present mainly only in the domestic market, the new Aion V was initially announced as a global model: in particular, it is expected in Southeast Asia. We should not rule out the appearance of this SUV in Russia — it is not for nothing that the local GAC representative office recently registered the Aion brand.
