St. Petersburg plans to pay 5 million rubles to the Paris Olympic champions

MOSCOW, June 21 The Government of St. Petersburg has decided to establish prizes for achieving high sports results at the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris. The corresponding draft resolution has been published on the official website of the city administration.
It is proposed to award prizes of 5 million rubles for gold medals to athletes who are members of St. Petersburg teams or sports clubs. Athletes will receive 2.5 million rubles for a silver medal, and 1.5 million rubles for a bronze medal. Athletes will also receive rewards for fourth (678 thousand rubles), fifth (452 thousand rubles), and sixth (339 thousand rubles) places. For coaches who trained athletes who took first through sixth place, bonuses equal to the corresponding rewards of the athletes are provided.
The project also provides for bonuses for participants in team sports, but due to restrictions from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Russian athletes will not compete in these disciplines in Paris.

Earlier, the IOC published a list of the first 14 Russian athletes who were admitted to the 2024 Olympic Games in neutral status. It included ten wrestlers, three cyclists and one trampolinist. The IOC admitted the Russians to the Games, which will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11, in individual neutral status, subject to compliance with a number of criteria. A special flag and anthem have been approved for neutral athletes. They will be able to compete in Paris in neutral status, but their compliance with the necessary criteria will be assessed by a special IOC commission (AINERP), consisting of three people.
