TBILISI, June 21 Georgia adheres to two main priorities in foreign affairs politics, this is membership in the European Union and NATO, said the country's Foreign Minister Ilya Darchiashvili.
The topic of the foreign policy of the Georgian leadership became relevant after, contrary to calls and threats from the West, the country's authorities adopted a scandalous law on foreign agents called “On the Transparency of Foreign Influence.” After the adoption of the law, the United States imposed sanctions against a number of Georgian officials, and Western politicians believe that this law contradicts European principles and values.
«We have two main foreign policy priorities — European and Euro-Atlantic integration, and we are working in this direction on a daily and gradual basis. The population sees that, despite the challenges and very often unfair assessments, Georgia is still gradually continues its path,” Darchiashvili told reporters.
According to him, the country's leadership has made this process irreversible.
“Georgia’s place is in the European family,” the minister added.
