Judge Elena Lenskaya of the Basmanny District Court of Moscow extended the arrest until September 23 of the defendant in the case of bribery in the Ministry of Defense, co-owner of the Olimpsitistroy company, Alexander Fomin. A Mediazona correspondent reports this from the court.
The hearing was held behind closed doors. Investigator Korovin justified this by the fact that previously the court closed the hearings of other defendants in this case as they were being suppressed.

Alexander Fomin was sent to a pre-trial detention center on April 25. He is accused of giving a bribe (Part 5 of Article 291 of the Criminal Code). According to investigators, he “being in a trusting relationship with [Deputy Minister of Defense Timur] Ivanov” did not take money from him for construction materials and building repairs.
On April 25, a preventive measure was chosen for Alexandra Fomin before the opening of the trial: when the first visitors began to enter the building, the accused had already been taken to the guard room from the courtroom.
Fomina’s lawyer refused that day to tell the Mediazona correspondent whether her client admitted guilt.
Timur Ivanov himself was arrested in the case of bribery on an especially large scale (part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code) on April 24 — and also before the opening of the trial. According to investigators, while holding his position and supervising the construction and overhaul of Ministry of Defense facilities, Timur Ivanov “conspired with third parties” to receive bribes “in the form of providing services of a property nature during contract and subcontract work for the needs of the Ministry of Defense.”
On June 20, Judge Elena Lenskaya extended the arrest of Timur Ivanov.
