This year, the BMW X5 crossover celebrates its 25th anniversary: the first-generation model rolled off the assembly line at a plant located in the USA in 1999. The current fourth generation, we recall, debuted in 2018; the SUV with the G05 index was restyled last year. So, the special version of the X5 Silver Anniversary Edition, presented today by the American division of the brand, is timed to coincide with the anniversary of the model. It is reported that in total “about 1,000” special crossovers will be released for the States. But whether such a performance will appear somewhere else is still unknown. By the way, in the USA, “X-5” is in the red: according to the company itself, at the end of 2023, sales dropped by 11.9% to 72,573 units, the result of the first quarter of 2024 was 14,923 units. (-13.8%).

The «anniversary» BMW X5 is based on the xDrive40i variant with a 3.0 inline turbo six with a power of 380 hp, a 48-volt starter-generator and an eight-speed automatic. The main features of the new product are a «unique combination of design elements» that were «borrowed» from the Sport and M Sport packages, as well as an emphasis on off-roading — that is, the presence of the xOffroad set. The BMW X5 Silver Anniversary Edition has all this goodness by default (but there are options, of course).
Thus, the frame of the radiator grille (the grille is backlit), the glass edging, the air ducts in the front wings and the roof rails are made in black. The body itself is painted in metallic Lime Rock Gray. The special crossover «stands» on 20-inch wheels, and on the trunk door there is a plate with the name of the special version. The interior features sports seats (there are several upholstery color options), carbon fiber trim, all-weather mats and, again, a brand name plate.

The xOffroad package standard on the BMW X5 Silver Anniversary Edition includes air suspension, additional underbody protection, a rear differential lock and off-road driving modes (xSand, xRocks, xGravel and xSnow). In addition, the crossover received the xOffroad View function: in particular, information about ground clearance, “propensity to roll” or “terrain slope” is displayed on the central display.
Production of the special Silver Anniversary Edition will start in the USA in August. The price has already been announced — $79,900 (about 7 million rubles at the current exchange rate), for delivery you will need to add another $1,175 (100 thousand rubles). For comparison, a regular BMW X5 xDrive40i, excluding taxes and delivery, costs from $68,000 (6 million rubles).
