PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, June 21The Karymsky volcano, located in the central part of Kamchatka, began to erupt after two years of silence and threw out ash that reached Petropavlovsk -Kamchatsky, reports the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, in its Telegram channel.
«After an almost two-year break, the previous eruption occurred from April 3, 2021 to August 22, 2022, Karymsky volcano has awakened. The eruption will be beautiful and long,» the message says.
The giant threw ashes to a height of six kilometers above sea level. The cloud of particles spread towards Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
«As a result of the ash emission on the Karymsky volcano in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, small ash particles settled in the form of dust. It does not pose a threat,» reports the regional department of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Karymsky Volcano is located in the central part of Kamchatka and is one of the most active. Its height is 1468 meters above sea level.
