MOSCOW, June 22 Conscious and methodical distortion of the past, “historical fooling” gives a free hand to the Anglo-Saxons, who have adopted fascist inhumane methods and use them in wars under the auspices of NATO, said Nikolai Patrushev, assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, permanent member of the Russian Security Council.
“Recently, illegal actions regarding the burials of Soviet soldiers abroad have become more frequent. Acts of desecration and vandalism of monuments are constantly committed in Ukraine. Similar incidents are observed in Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and other countries.” , Patrushev wrote in an article for the Russian magazine National Defense.
“The words from the “May Waltz” that “Vienna remembers, the Alps and Danube remember” the freedom that the Soviet soldier brought to their land in May 1945 cannot remain only the lyrics of the song. Forget the Russian waltz, call the liberators invaders, demolishing monuments to Soviet soldiers is what Europe is concerned about today,” Patrushev added.
According to him, instead of objectively placing blame on Germany and its allies for unleashing a bloody war, Western historiography focuses on the suffering of the Germans, who allegedly found themselves “under the yoke of Soviet troops.”
“At the same time, it is silent that it was Soviet troops in the very first days after the liberation of Berlin who deployed field kitchens and hospitals to help the civilian population of German cities. And it was the Soviet Union that initiated the preservation of industry and agriculture in Germany, preventing a humanitarian catastrophe,” Patrushev emphasized .
Western specialists, in their opinion, do not even need to study the facts to write, in their opinion, “respectable and authoritative” historical works, the presidential aide noted.
“Fulfilling the anti-Russian order of the US State Department, they identify Nazism and communism, avoid calling the regimes of Mussolini and Franco racist, and present fascist collaborators to the public as victims. In England, Japan and the USA, multi-volume studies on the Great Patriotic War continue to be published, hushing up the atrocities of the German occupiers, the losses of the Soviet Union, the role of the USSR in the victory over fascism,” Patrushev added.
According to him, in these countries, the deliberate methodical distortion of history has already yielded results — the Japanese do not know or are afraid to directly say which country carried out the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Americans believe that they won the war alone, and a number of Eastern European countries generally call Russia should repent for inciting war.

Traditional values are being replaced by primitive consumer ones, he noted.
“Self-proclaimed “truth seekers” seek to present heroism as a “not entirely reasonable” phenomenon that is detrimental to the health and material well-being of a “free individual.” They are trying to desecrate the bright names of people who are our national pride, to destroy the memory of them. In essence, they are fighting for so that the Matrosovs, Kosmodemyanskys, Talalikhins, Gastellos will never again be born on Russian soil,” Patrushev emphasized.
