IVANOVO, June 23The new documentary thriller “On the Hook: When a Scammer Calls” will be released on Okko; the creators took five months to conduct their investigation, said Okko documentary content producer Vladimir Todorov.
“Before we started writing the script, it took us about five months to get into this industry itself. This is a very complex story, since most fraudulent call centers are not located in Russia and it is extremely difficult to get there,” — he said as part of the business program of the forum «Pilot. Take-off points.» 
< br />Todorov noted that in the process of creating the project there was long-term communication with participants in this business at different levels, as well as the subsequent painstaking reconstruction of what was learned from various photographs, videos and eyewitness accounts. The project required 27 artistic filming shifts, not counting shifts with speakers.
Especially for filming, two call centers were created based on patterns of what they actually look like: one is working, and the other is test. Todorov explained that after falling into a telephone scam, an employee first works in a test call center, and after a successful three-month test, he ends up working in the main call center.
The project will pay attention to the positions of both the victim of fraudsters and the participant in the criminal business.
«We have two absolutely unique heroes, because the first is a person who did not give up after losing all the money and went on the attack… And the second lady, in fact, has a difficult fate, because she got into telephone fraud, worked there for a relatively long time, then at some point she psychologically broke down and found out that there was no way out of this business, in general, «- said Todorov.
The hero, who became a victim of scammers, collected many incredible facts about telephone fraud and shared his story, became the prototype of one of the characters in the project. The former scammer is still forced to hide her identity, but agreed to tell how it works from the inside, Todorov added.
The forum «Pilot. Takeoff Points» is held as part of the «Pilot» TV series festival, which takes place in Ivanovo from June 20 to 23.
