The Japanese company is preparing a new generation of its crossover, and thanks to fresh spy photos we have the opportunity to imagine what the car will look like.< /p>
The mid-size Murano crossover, named after one of the Italian islands, dates back to 2002, when production of the first-generation model began. Initially, it was developed exclusively for the American market by the Nissan USA division, but two years later the crossover entered the European and Japanese markets. Today, the third generation of the SUV, which was presented in April 2014, is already on the assembly line. By the way, in 2016, Murano production was established in Russia at the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg. At the end of 2018, the crossover received a slight restyling, and now a completely new generation is preparing for its premiere, and we can already look at the main features of its appearance.

The fourth generation will retain familiar proportions, but the design will be completely new, made in the current style of the brand. What the future new product has most in common with the Ariya electric crossover is similar body plastics, the shape of the side glazing with a molding that extends to the rear window. The front part will be original: there are also a kind of “two-story” headlights, but they are more traditional, since in the upper part there are the main headlights in narrow horizontal blocks, and below the running lights in the form of vertically lined strokes. The latter are visually united by the horizontal bars of the radiator grille. On the side, you can note the downward waist stamping and traditional door handles. As for the rear part, the interesting things here are the lanterns, stretching across the entire width of the stern and endowed with original graphics in the form of narrow vertical elements. For the first time in the history of the model, the license plate niche will be located in the rear bumper.

It is expected that, in order to save money, the new Murano will be built on a modified front-wheel drive platform of the current generation. The restyled crossover of the third generation was offered with a single naturally aspirated V6 3.5 engine with a power of 264 hp, but the new model can receive a turbocharged engine. And the CVT will be replaced by a 9-speed automatic transmission.
