MOSCOW, June 24The latest package of sanctions from the European Commission demonstrates the complete helplessness of European officials, which will not lead to any results, said Senator from Kaliningrad Alexander Shenderyuk-Zhidkov.
The Council of the EU on Monday officially approved a ban on access to a number of media outlets in the EU from June 25, including Russian, Izvestia, Rossiyskaya Gazeta, and Voice of Europe, as follows from a document published in the official journal of the EU. In addition, Russian transport companies — Ural Airlines, the Volga-Dnepr group, the Novaport airport holding, and Sovcomflot — were subject to new sanctions.
< br />“The latest package of sanctions demonstrates the complete helplessness of the European Commission, for the 14th time the EU is trying to deal a “crushing” blow to Russia, and the stock of sanctions ideas only boils down mainly to an attack against Russian independent media and public figures,” the senator said.
According to the politician, the new package of anti-Russian sanctions is just another demonstration that will not lead to any result. At the same time, Russian companies, the senator added, will find an opportunity to nullify these sanctions as soon as possible.
The Russian Federation has repeatedly stated that the country will cope with the sanctions pressure that the West began to exert on Russia several years ago and continues to increase. Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev noted that the West lacks the courage to admit the failure of sanctions against Russia. In Western countries themselves, opinions are often voiced that anti-Russian sanctions are ineffective.
