MOSCOW, June 23Relevant services and security forces in Makhachkala worked promptly, said the mayor of the city, Yusup Umavov.
A video message from the head of the city was published on his Telegram channel.
“»Relevant services and law enforcement agencies in Makhachkala worked quickly, but there were losses. We offer our sincere condolences to the families and friends whose sons and brothers died today,» Umavov said.
According to him, law enforcement officers are now taking all necessary measures.
On Sunday in Derbent and Makhachkala, armed attacks were carried out on two Orthodox churches, a synagogue and a traffic police post, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee of the Russian Federation reported. The Russian Investigative Committee for Dagestan opened criminal cases under the article “terrorist attack”. As a result of the terrorist attacks, according to preliminary data, a priest of the Russian Orthodox Church and police officers were killed. The regional Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that six law enforcement officers were killed. According to the latest department data, 13 police officers and three civilians were injured in Makhachkala. A legal regime for a counter-terrorism operation has been introduced in the Republic of Dagestan.
