MOSCOW, June 24 Director Lev Dodin received the Golden Mask as the best director of the dramatic play “The Seagull,” the correspondent reports.
«Thank you very much to our dear native Maly Drama Theater, to everyone who works and created the play “The Seagull”… Thanks to our teacher, our master Lev Abramovich Dodin — this is his reward,” said actress Elizaveta Boyarskaya, accepting the award for Dodin.
She recalled that on May 14 Dodin turned 80 years old. “This is a big anniversary and holiday for our theater and the entire city of St. Petersburg,” the actress emphasized.
The award ceremony takes place on Monday on the historical stage of the State Academic Theater named after Evgeniy Vakhtangov.
«Golden Mask» is a professional award that was established in 1993 by the Union of Theater Workers of the Russian Federation. The festival is held annually in Moscow and presents the best performances of the season in all types of theatrical art (drama, opera, ballet, modern dance, operetta/musical, puppet theater).
