MOSCOW, June 25 European arms companies are exploring the possibility of producing anti-drone small arms against the backdrop of the Ukrainian conflict, Defense News reports.
As the publication writes, weapons manufacturers are thinking about producing anti-drone weapons against the backdrop of the military’s actions in the Ukrainian conflict, repelling a UAV attack on the battlefield with the help of their existing light weapons.
“The use of various types of weapons in this capacity in Ukraine has increased the demand for us to purchase shotguns in an anti-drone configuration — we have received many requests from NATO countries in order to learn more about them,” the publication quotes the words of the head of the sales department of the Italian manufacturer of hand-held weapons small arms Benelli Mauro Della Costanza.
As Defense News notes, Benelli is already supplying shotguns with ammunition designed to shoot down small moving targets at a distance of 80 to 120 meters, they are already in service in France and Italy. The publication also reports that Belgian firearms manufacturer FN Herstal has developed a system to protect against drones. According to the publication, manufacturers of such weapons note among their strengths that they are cost-effective and easy to use.
