MOSCOW, June 21. The underwater camera KT-1200, used to film the bottom of the Mariana Trench, is being adapted for work in Arctic conditions, a representative of the developer company, the Energia plant of the Ruselectronics holding (part of the Rostec State Corporation), said during the Fleet-2024 international naval show.
The exhibition is being held at the congress and exhibition center on the territory of the Fort Island cluster from June 19 to 23. A total of 225 industrial enterprises are participating in Fleet-2024. is the official information partner of the show.
“A special feature of the camera is the ability to operate at hydrostatic pressure of up to 120 Megapascals, that is, at a depth of up to 12 kilometers, which was successfully demonstrated as part of the Vityaz-D unmanned autonomous vehicle, which took photographs and videos of the bottom of the Mariana Trench. Today we are working on adaptation KT-1200 for work in Arctic zones,” said a representative of the Energia plant.
According to him, prototypes have already been created, which will be presented for testing at the end of this year.

On May 8, 2020, the autonomous uninhabited underwater vehicle «Vityaz» dived to the bottom of the Mariana Trench. The Vityaz sensors recorded a depth of 10,028 meters. Measurements in the past recorded that the deepest point of the depression — the Challenger Deep — is located at around 11 kilometers.
The Russian Geographical Society reported that the Vityaz carried out mapping, photography and video shooting of the seabed, and studied the parameters of the marine environment.< br />
