MOSCOW, June 25 Western banks remaining in the Russian Federation perform important functions in the interests of foreign clients, said the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.
«»They will perform quite important functions of transferring funds. This is not only in the interests of our clients of these banks, but also foreign ones. Do not forget that a lot of Western businesses operate here in the Russian economy, they continue to work here, they have huge multibillion-dollar investments here and most companies have not left, but continue to work in this market, that’s the point,” Peskov told reporters, answering the question of what importance Western banks have for Russia and how necessary it is for Western banks to retain their positions in the Russian Federation.
The press secretary of the head of state noted that if these banks cease their activities, foreign companies will be damaged in the same way as Russian ones.
