MOSCOW, June 25 President of the Republic Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso arrived in Moscow, the correspondent reports.
He was met at the airport by Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Congolese Ambassador to Russia David Maduka.
In Moscow, Sassou Nguesso will meet with President Vladimir Putin. According to assistant to the head of state Yuri Ushakov, negotiations are scheduled for June 27.
Congo is one of the largest oil-producing countries in Africa, its proven crude oil reserves for 2022 were estimated at 1.8 billion barrels, and production was about 260 thousand barrels per day. The republic is a member of OPEC, oil exports form the basis of budget revenues. In addition, this year Congo became an exporter of liquefied natural gas. It also has reserves of iron ore, gold, zinc.
Russia and Congo interact in various spheres — political, trade and economic, humanitarian, as well as in the field of military-technical cooperation.
As Putin emphasized, African countries are playing an increasingly significant role in addressing current issues on the international agenda. Russia, according to him, attaches particular importance to strengthening friendly relations with the states of the continent, with which it is united by the desire to build a fair multipolar world order based on true equality and the supremacy of international law, free from any forms of discrimination, dictatorship and sanctions pressure.
