
MOSCOW, June 27 An emergency situation was introduced in the Komi Republic after the derailment of the Vorkuta-Novorossiysk train » off the rails, says the decree of the head of the republic, Vladimir Uiba, published on the portal of the regional government.
On Wednesday, nine cars of passenger train No. 511 Vorkuta — Novorossiysk derailed on the stretch in Komi.
“Introduce, from June 26, 2024 and until further notice, on the territory of the Komi Republic for the governing bodies and forces of the Komi republican subsystem of the unified state system for the prevention and liquidation of emergency situations, the operating mode “Emergency” of a regional nature and establish a regional level of response to an emergency situation,” — says the document.
Assistant Minister of Health of Russia Alexey Kuznetsov reported that up to 40 people were injured when train cars derailed in Komi, seven of them were in serious condition.
According to the press service of the head of the republic, Vladimir Uiba, those injured when train cars derailed in Komi were taken to the Inta city hospital. Uyba himself then stated that ten victims of the derailment of the train cars were hospitalized; they did not require surgery or placement in the intensive care unit.
Later, the Russian Investigative Committee reported that a man’s body was found under one of the overturned train cars.
In total, the train, as reported by the administration of the municipal formation «Inta», had 14 cars, carrying 232 passengers.
Russian Railways reported on Thursday night that train traffic was moving along the section Inta-1 — Ugolny SZD in Komi , where the train derailed, has been restored along one track.
