This year, the Russian plant started small-scale production of a seven-seater car of the Chinese brand. These cars will go on sale in the near future.
The Forthing brand (aka Fengxing) belongs to the Chinese concern Dongfeng. She presented the production version of the Yacht minivan (translated from English as “yacht”) in the spring of 2022. The fact that this brand was entering the Russian market became known last year. Here, the official distributor “Ixen Motors Rus” is engaged in the sale and warranty service of Forthing cars.

Initially presented in the Russian line, Forthing Yacht was supplied from China: their production was established at the Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor enterprise . Now, in 2024, small-unit assembly of these minivans has started in the Russian Federation — on the basis of welded and painted bodies. Production was launched at the Kaliningrad Avtotor plant. As Ixen Motors Rus noted, “key adaptations and improvements have been integrated into the design of the seven-seater car.”
The company also added that the cost of Forthing Yacht was reduced by 790 thousand rubles as a result of the transition to local assembly. Thus, the recommended retail price of a minivan coming off the assembly line in the Russian Federation is 3,400,000 rubles. The distributor explained that the price tag was reduced by ordering a large batch of vehicle kits, as well as thanks to existing subsidy programs.

Local assembly made adjustments to Forthing Yacht. Thus, cars from China have two captain's chairs in the second row, since the layout of a minivan produced in Russia assumes a three-seater sofa in the center (2+3+2). Note that the local model's equipment list includes a heated windshield and a heated steering wheel, and they also received a fully localized multimedia system.
The Forthing Yacht is based on the EMA modular platform. The overall length of the minivan is 4850 mm, width – 1900 mm, height – 1715 mm, and the distance between the axles is 2900 mm. Ground clearance is 160 mm. Under the hood of this car is a 1.5-liter turbo engine Mitsubishi, the output of which is 197 hp, paired with a seven-speed robot with two wet clutches.

In addition, the prices for the Russian-assembled Forthing T5 and T5 Evo have recently become known. The recommended retail price of the T5 crossover, which is a new product for the local brand line, is 1,900,000 rubles.
The recommended retail price of the locally produced Forthing T5 SUV is 2,600,000 rubles. The indicated price tag is 890,000 rubles cheaper than copies of this model imported from China.
