MOSCOW, June 26 International law must reflect the balance of interests of all countries, and not be replaced by rules beneficial only to individual states, said Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev.
“Today our task is to unite the full potential of interstate structures in order to return the values of rights to their unconditional priority… Do so that generally accepted norms of international law reflect the balance of interests of all countries and are not replaced by the notorious “rules-based order,” which benefits only individual states,” Medvedev wrote in his greeting to the participants of the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.
He emphasized that it is necessary to restore universal respect for the values of law “as the most transparent and objective mechanism for ensuring the security and well-being of mankind.”
The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council is confident that the participants in the legal forum will develop decisions that will form the basis for further strengthening and convergence of national legal systems in the basis of common values of law, the development of key legal institutions that act openly and fairly in the interests of sovereign states.
