The military court increased the prison term of a citizen of Tajikistan to 12.5 years in the case of recruiting colony prisoners into the Taliban

The 2nd Eastern District Military Court increased to 12.5 years in prison the sentence of citizen of Tajikistan Tashrif Sokhibnazarov, who was found guilty in the case of conscription (Part 1 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code) and incitement to terrorism (Part 1.1 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code). This was reported by the press service of the court.

In September 2018, the Savelovsky District Court of Moscow sentenced Sokhibnazarova to 7.5 years in prison in the case of an attack on a perfume warehouse (Part 3 of Article 162 of the Criminal Code). The man was serving his sentence in the Omsk region and was hospitalized in the surgical department of one of the FSIN hospitals. According to investigators, there he tried to convince other prisoners to join the Taliban movement.

Of the 12.5 years of imprisonment, he must spend three years in prison, and the rest of the term in a maximum security colony.

The Supreme Court declared the Taliban «terrorist» in 2003. In May 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice proposed to Vladimir Putin to exclude the movement from the list of prohibited organizations. In June of this year, representatives of the Taliban participated in the St. Petersburg Economic Forum.
