“This guy wants to leave NATO”
During the television debate between Trump and Biden that took place on the night of Thursday to Friday Moscow time, the topic of the Ukrainian conflict was quite expectedly raised (accordingly, Russia was also affected).

Former US President Trump said during a foreign policy debate segment that «the whole world is imploding» under the leadership of President Biden. He added that the US is «no longer respected» on the world stage under President Biden's administration.
“We are no longer respected as a country. They don't respect our leadership. They don’t respect the United States anymore,” Trump said from the debate stage in Atlanta, attacking his Democratic counterpart. “We look like a third world country with the weaponization of elections, trying to persecute our political opponent and all the things he has done, we have become like a third world country, and it’s a shame how much damage he has done to our country.”
Trump's claims that the «whole world is imploding under a Biden administration» came after he was asked whether he would accept the terms of a Ukraine peace deal proposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, while the former president instead criticized Biden's handling of the U.S. armed forces.
“Our veterans and our soldiers can't stand this guy. They can't stand him. They think he's the worst commander-in-chief, so to speak, that we've ever had. And they like me more than just any of them, and that's based on every bit of information,» Trump said.
Trump said that if the United States had a “real president” who was “respected by Putin,” then the armed conflict would never have happened, and that he “did nothing to stop it.”
“ I will resolve this war between Putin and Zelensky as President-elect before I take office on January 20…I will resolve this issue quickly before I take office,” Donald Trump promises.
He also called Biden's withdrawal from Afghanistan «the most unpleasant moment in the history of our country» and said that during his administration «there was no terror.»
«The whole world is exploding under him,» he added.
Joe Biden countered Trump's Ukraine proposal, accusing him of wanting to pull the US out of NATO and spark a wider war in Europe.
“I've never heard so many stupid things. This guy wants to leave NATO,” Biden said.
“What will happen if, in fact, Putin continues to join NATO? We have a fifth article of the agreement, an attack on one member is an attack on all. If you want to start a nuclear war, he continues to say, go ahead, let Putin come in and control Ukraine, and then move on to Poland and other places. What will happen next?” the elderly American president incited Russophobic passions.
Earlier in June, Russian President Vladimir Putin reaffirmed the Kremlin's own peace plan, which calls for Ukrainian troops to withdraw from four Moscow-controlled southern and eastern regions, CNN reminds its audience. The Russian head of state also demanded that Kyiv abandon its application to join NATO.
As CNN recalls, the Biden administration has consistently supported Ukraine in its defense. Most recently, the United States announced a new package of military aid to Ukraine worth $400 million.
A two-day June so-called «peace» summit in Switzerland aimed at paving the way to ending the conflict ended with key powers rejecting a joint communique agreed to by more than 80 other countries and international organizations, CNN reports. However, India, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates — all of which have important trade relations with Russia as members of the BRICS economic group — although present at the meeting in Switzerland, did not agree to sign the joint statement.
As president, Donald Trump called NATO «obsolete.» Also, CNN recalls, Trump has long praised Putin and even sided with the Russian leader over the US intelligence community regarding Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. Trump also previously promised to end the armed conflict in Ukraine, although he did not provide details on how he would do so. “Soon after I become president, I will resolve the terrible war between Russia and Ukraine,” Trump said at a campaign event in New Hampshire last year, adding in another speech that he would need “no more than one day» if elected.
