MOSCOW, June 27 Relations between Russia and the Congo are developing in a positive direction, and this is partly due to the President of the Republic Denis Sassou Nguesso, said Russian President Vladimir Putin.
«You have done a great deal to ensure that they develop in this positive direction,» Putin said during talks in the Kremlin, speaking about relations between the two countries.
He recalled the decision to award the President of the Congo with a state award.
«Allow me to fulfill this honorable mission,» Putin added before presenting Sassou Nguesso with the Order of Honor.
The decree on the award was published this morning. The document notes that Sassou Nguesso was awarded the order «for his great contribution to the development and strengthening of relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Congo.»
