The Saratov garrison military court sentenced Dmitry Kiryukhin, a participant in the war in Ukraine, who beat a married couple and police officers, to four years in prison. This was reported by the human rights project “Traumpunkt” and the publication “Svobodnye Novosti”.
In addition, Kiryukhin was fined 30 thousand rubles. The court also recovered from him 200 thousand rubles in compensation for moral damage and ordered him to pay 12,600 rubles for the treatment of the victims.
A resident of the city of Atkarsk near Saratov, Dmitry Kiryukhin, came home on November 13, 2023, on leave from the war. On the morning of the next day, November 14, he visited school No. 6 in Aktarsk and spoke at the lesson “Talking about important things.”
In the evening of the same day, 42-year-old Kiryukhin beat his neighbors at the entrance — Oleg and Irina Matasov . According to surveillance camera footage, the military man knocked Matasov down with his blow and continued beating him while he was lying down.
When a family friend tried to help the man and told Kiryukhin: “You killed him,” he turned on her, shouting: “I don’t give a fuck, listen, you scum, get the fuck out here.” Then Matasov’s wife ran out into the yard and began to cry over her husband’s body. Kiryukhin hit her several times, including with his fist and with his foot.
When the police arrived at the house, the military man attacked them too: first he swore at them, and then grabbed one of them by the chest. Kiryukhin was found guilty of hooliganism, use of violence against security officer and two episodes insults of a government official . In court, he explained his actions by saying that he was drunk and said that he was ready to return to the war in Ukraine again.
