The Central District Military Court sentenced 37-year-old Togliatti resident Pavel Korshunov to 13 years in prison in the case of setting fire to the porch of the city administration. This was reported by the publications 63.RU and Zasekin.
Korshunov was found guilty under articles of terrorism that resulted in significant property damage, and vandalism motivated by political hatred (clause “c” of part 2 of article 205 of the Criminal Code and part 2 Article 214 of the Criminal Code). He will serve his sentence in a maximum security colony.
A man who worked as a manager of a travel company in Tolyatti threw a Molotov cocktail at the administration building on Belorusskaya Street on September 23, 2022 — the day after mobilization was announced in the country.
The area of the fire was ten square meters, the door and ceiling lining of the entrance area were burned, no one was injured.
The Central District Court of Togliatti sent Korshunov under arrest on September 28. The publication Volga.News claimed that he admitted guilt.
Togliatti.online published a video of Korshunov’s detention by special forces officers. He said on camera that he committed the arson “in order to intimidate administration employees” because of the announced mobilization. In essence, the case against Korshunov began to be considered in April 2023.
