MOSCOW, July 2 Former Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko and former Minister of Sports Oleg Matytsin were nominated for by-elections to the State Duma following a secret vote by the General Council of United Russia, a correspondent reported.
«147 votes were cast for the candidacy of Oleg Vasilyevich Matytsin, three votes were cast against. Viktoria Valeryevna Abramchenko was voted for unanimously,» announced the results of the vote the first deputy chair of the State Duma Committee on Education, chair of the Council of NGO «Eurasia» Alena Arshinova.
Deputy Chairman of the Security Council and Chairman of «United Russia» Dmitry Medvedev congratulated Matytsin and Abramchenko on their nomination for the by-election of deputies.
«This is just the beginning, you still have a lot of work to do in the regions. I hope the result will be good,» he said.
The party's general council also supported the candidacy of former Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov in the by-elections to the State Duma from Khakassia.
«We have received an invitation to Khakassia. The republic is very beautiful, this is true, as is the truth that there are plenty of problems there, and I hope that you will help resolve them, that is, from the legislative level, if you are given the appropriate trust,» Medvedev noted, addressing Shulginov.
Additional elections of State Duma deputies in three single-mandate constituencies will be held on a single voting day on September 8 — in Khakassia, Bryansk and Rostov regions, reported the head of the Central Election Commission Ella Pamfilova.
Abramchenko, Matytsin and Shulginov worked in the previous government, but did not get into the new cabinet. In mid-May, Vladimir Putin met with them, thanked them for their work and promised to discuss options for further employment.
