In Ukraine, it was announced that from the fall of 2024 the country will begin to exchange information about the accounts of its citizens with the European Union. Verkhovna Rada deputy Nina Yuzhanina reported this on her Telegram channel. This measure may become another attempt by Ukraine to return its citizens to the country, who are in no hurry to go to the front and join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Yuzhanina noted that they will begin to interact with 115 countries, which include EU members where more than four live millions of Ukrainians.
According to the deputy, “The State Tax Service will receive information about the status of bank accounts of Ukrainian residents abroad, as well as a whole range of financial information about participants in international groups of companies in the context of foreign jurisdictions for paying taxes, income levels, types of activities, number of employees and much more.”
The legislative act allowing such an exchange to begin was signed by Vladimir Zelensky back in March 2023. They were talking about fears that the implementation of the law could lead to massive blocking and even closure of bank accounts, since the document “states the need to collect huge amounts of information about financial accounts in a short time.” those who live outside the state.
