Nissan is preparing a new inexpensive crossover

The production of the SUV will be established in Brazil, which will become the debut market for the model. At the same time, they also plan to deliver SUVs to other Latin American countries.

Last fall, Nissan announced that it would launch two new crossovers at its Brazilian plant. One of the models was named right away — this will be the second generation Kicks, adapted for the local market. By the way, the new Nissan Kicks has already been presented, but so far only in the US version. Brazilian specialized media then considered the other upcoming SUV to be either a simplified Juke or a renamed and slightly modernized “first” Kix (the previous generation model for Latin American countries is made by the same enterprise in Brazil). The old Nissan Kicks will indeed remain on the assembly line; it will be sold in parallel with the new generation. However, last year's press release was not about him. And not about Nissan Juke.

The fact is that the second announced SUV is currently not present at all in any of the markets. The head of Nissan Latin America reported this to the Brazilian publication Motor1.com. The top manager did not provide any other details about the model. Motor1.com suggests that in the brand’s range the new crossover will occupy a niche between the “first” and “second” Nissan Kicks. It is believed that both new SUVs will be equipped with a 1.0 turbo engine, the production of which will also be launched in Brazil. In the States, the second-generation Kicks are equipped with a two-liter naturally aspirated engine.

New in Brazil Nissan Kicks is expected to go on sale in 2025, although the local version could premiere as early as this year. The second SUV should hit the market by 2026. Both locally produced models are planned to be supplied to other Latin American countries.

Meanwhile, Nissan previously announced another new and relatively affordable crossover — this time for India. This will be an analogue of the Indian upcoming Renault SUV. The models don't have names yet. It is quite possible that the Indians will be offered a Renault cross as the next Duster (but outwardly it will differ from the global third-generation Duster). But the name Terrano for the Nissan crossover will probably not be revived (the previous Nissan Terrano was a clone of the first generation Renault Duster, the production of this Nissan has already been discontinued). In general, it is possible that the Brazilian Nissan SUV will in one way or another have something in common with the Indian model.
