Russia-appointed management of Zaporizhzhya NPP reported attack of three Ukrainian drones on substation, eight casualties

The Russian-appointed management of the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant claims that three kamikaze drones of the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the Raduga electrical substation on the banks of the Dnieper River near the Zaporizhzhya NPP in Energodar.

According to them, at the time, “work was underway at the substation to optimize the power supply scheme of Energodar,” and eight Zaporizhzhya NPP employees were injured.

“Most of the city” was left without power and water, claims the pro-Russian mayor of Energodar Eduard Senovoz. Several operating facilities of the Zaporizhzhya NPP, including the transport shop and the printing house, were also left without power.

The Zaporizhzhya NPP reactors themselves were previously put into “cold shutdown” mode.

Russian authorities in Energodar have already reported damage to one of the transformers at the Raduga substation during the attack on June 21 and the “complete destruction” of the neighboring Luch substation on June 19. The city also had power outages at the time.

In June, the Ukrainian authorities in Energodar denied the accusations and said that “this is not the first time that the Russians themselves have shelled [the city’s] infrastructure and blamed the Ukrainian Armed Forces for this.”
