Total cost of the new US military aid package for Ukraine will be $2.35 billion. The US Department of Defense announced this on Wednesday, July 3.
As the Pentagon clarified, weapons and equipment worth $150 million will be written off from American warehouses for the needs of the Ukrainian army. In addition, $2.2 billion will be allocated for the purchase of new weapons within the framework of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI).
From the American armories, the Ukrainian Armed Forces receive missiles for HAWK air defense systems, ammunition for HIMARS rocket launchers, artillery and mortars shells, Javelin systems and other weapons.
It became known earlier that NATO is creating a new command in Wiesbaden to strengthen support for Ukraine. These steps are aimed at coordinating the supply of military equipment to Kyiv and the training of Ukrainian military personnel.
Against this background, former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Igor Romanenko said that three options are being considered for continuing or freezing hostilities in Ukraine. The choice of scenario depends on what position the United States takes.
