The 2nd Eastern District Military Court sentenced student from Novosibirsk Igor Lushko to 20 years in prison in the case of involvement in the Freedom of Russia Legion. A correspondent from the Novosibirsk State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company reported this from the courtroom.
The 19-year-old boy must spend the first five years in prison, the rest in a maximum security colony. In addition, the court recovered 741 thousand rubles from Lushko in favor of the West Siberian Railway.
The student was accused of sabotage (Part 1 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code) and preparation for it (clause “c” of Part 2 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code using Part 1 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code), participation in the activities of a terrorist organization (Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code) and high treason (Article 275 of the Criminal Code).
According to the investigation, the young man, acting on instructions from representatives of the Freedom of Russia Legion, set fire to an electrical substation on the Inya-Vostochnaya — Mochishche section of the West Siberian Railway and planned to set fire to military equipment. In addition, according to the security forces, Lushko collected information about an unnamed military unit.
The student was detained in September 2023. According to Kommersant, Lushko admitted his guilt at the trial.
