In the Kuril Islands, the Ebeko volcano ejected a column of ash

YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK, July 5The Ebeko volcano on the Kuril island of Paramushir threw out a column of ash to a height of 2.5 kilometers on Friday, reports the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
According to the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Team, the explosions raised Ebeko's ash 2.5 kilometers above sea level, the plume stretched 3 kilometers north of the volcano.

«The activity of the volcano is dangerous for local air travel,» scientists note in a message on the Telegram channel.

Ebeko Volcano, 1156 meters high, is located on Paramushir Island, seven kilometers northwest of Severo-Kurilsk in the northern part of the Vernadsky Ridge. Regular emissions (from weak to moderate) have been ongoing since October 20, 2016, which is normal activity for the volcano. The record emission was registered on August 31, 2018. Then a column of smoke rose to a height of six kilometers from a new volcano crater formed in 2017.
