Orban did not inform the EU countries about his intention to visit Moscow, media write

BRUSSELS, 5 JUL Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban, whose country has been presiding over the Council of the EU since the beginning of July, did not warn the community countries about his intention to visit Russia, the Belgian publication La Libre reported on Friday, citing sources.
«According to various La Libre sources, Hungary did not bother to inform other member states about plans for a trip to Moscow. If such a visit takes place, it would mean neglecting the principle of loyal interaction between the 27 states (EU members — ed),» writes edition.
According to him, European media were also unable to obtain comments from the Hungarian Foreign Ministry on this topic.

On Thursday, after Hungarian media reported that Orbán and Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó would visit Moscow on Friday, European Council President Charles Michel wrote on the X network that Hungary, as EU President, currently has no right to interact with Russia on behalf of the European Union.

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday that Russian President Vladimir Putin has a busy schedule on Friday, about which the Kremlin will inform.
