WARSAW, July 5 Poland had to urgently form a European battle group union, since other countries did not want to do this, said the Minister of National Defense of the Republic, Vladislav Kosinyak-Kamysh, during the solemn ceremony of the group’s entry into combat duty.
«Why is it that Poland takes charge and deploys a battle group faster than others? When I became minister in the first months of this year, the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security asked all member states to fill out shortage and deployment of a combat group. There were not many willing, not many ready. This means that the level of preparation of many states is inadequate to the threats and is ready for them,” Kosiniak-Kamysh said.
He noted that Poland prepared the group in six months instead of the usual two years.
«The Chief of the General Staff and I decided to urgently deploy a battle group of the European Union. This is more than 2 thousand soldiers who are ready to be in full readiness, to act in the name of peace and security. Normal training period combat group of the European Union — this is two years, Poland did it in six months,” the minister said.
He clarified that the combat duty of the Polish group will last until June 30, 2025.
