MOSCOW, July 4 The International Olympic Committee (IOC) made a statement in which he denied rumors about the possible cancellation of the Summer Games in Paris.
The weekly Le Point previously claimed that IOC President Thomas Bach was spooked by the dissolution of the National Assembly in France and had begun to consider canceling or postponing the Games.
«This is clearly part of an ongoing disinformation campaign against France, the IOC and its President, as well as the Olympic Games. This has no factual basis. The President of the IOC and the entire Olympic movement are looking forward to the magnificent Olympic Games of 2024 in Paris, which will begin with the opening ceremony on July 26,” the organization said in a statement on the social network X.
The mayor of Paris, socialist Anne Hidalgo, at the end of June accused French President Emmanuel Macron of “ruining the holiday” of the Olympic Games by dissolving parliament and organizing early elections. Media reported that Paris was preparing to mobilize the military in protests after the possible election victory of the right-wing National Rally party.
The Summer Olympic Games will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11.
