MOSCOW, July 4 The Khoroshevsky Court of Moscow has registered a criminal case against cartoonist Pavel Muntyan* for distributing fakes about the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, according to the portal of the courts of general jurisdiction of Moscow.
“A criminal case has been registered under Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation against P.A. Muntyan*,” the file says.
The trial date has not been set.
Muntean* was put on the wanted list in December last year. As a source in law enforcement agencies clarified, the case was initiated for spreading fakes about the actions of the Russian army in Bucha. The cartoonist was arrested in absentia and faces up to 10 years in prison.
Mr. Freeman is one of the first Russian web series, which began appearing in 2009 on YouTube and other platforms. In those years, the videos were distinguished by their quality and received millions of views. YouTube channel Mr. Freeman continues to update, but not regularly.
In April 2023, the Ministry of Justice included Muntean* in the register of foreign agents. According to the department, the cartoonist opposed the special military operation, distributed materials from foreign agents, and collected funds in support of Ukraine.
