The pickup truck has been transformed on the outside and received a modern multimedia system. According to preliminary data, the reforms did not affect the technology: the model is powered by 2.0 and V6 3.0 diesel engines.
The Volkswagen Amarok entered its second generation in 2022: this pickup truck is a relative of the Ford Ranger; production of the latest model of the German brand has been established at the Ford plant in South Africa. At the same time, even before the presentation of the new Volkswagen, it became known that the “first” Amarok, which the concern developed independently, would remain in service. The previous model is produced by VW's own plant in Argentina. In 2022, it was announced that the first-generation pickup truck would be modernized, and at the end of last year a spy photo of the restyled Amarok was posted online. Now Volkswagen has announced the start of mass production of the updated “first” pickup truck and shared the official image and video.

It is curious that the Latin American division of the concern calls the converted truck the third generation! But, of course, this is just another restyling of a model that has been in production for 15 years (the previous modernization was carried out in 2016 — such a pickup truck in Latin America is considered the second generation). Be that as it may, the Amarok received a different grille and headlights, plus a luminous line appeared at the front. The pickup also received a new front bumper with vertical foglight units. At the stern there is a large inscription with the name of the model located under the VW emblem.

The equipment, according to preliminary information, is the same. The “first” Volkswagen Amarok is offered with 2.0 TDI turbodiesels (140 or 180 hp) and V6 3.0 TDI (258 hp). The base engine is combined with a manual or eight-speed automatic transmission, the second is paired only with 8AT. A pickup truck with a two-liter diesel engine comes with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive; the Amarok with a V6 3.0 TDI is all-wheel drive by default.
The restyled truck will go on sale in August. Outside Latin America, such an Amarok is unlikely to appear.
