A second criminal case was opened against the head of Kamchatka Yabloko for “discrediting” the army

The Elizovsky District Court of the Kamchatka Territory received a criminal case about repeated “discrediting” of the army (Part 1 of Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code) against the journalist and head of the local branch of the Yabloko party Vladimir Efimov. The OVD-Info project found information about this on the court’s website.

The details of the case are still unknown. Where Efimov is now is not specified.

This is already the second criminal case about “discrediting” the army, which was brought against a Kamchatka resident. In March 2023, Efimov was fined 200 thousand rubles due to pacifist posts on Facebook. In a conversation with Radio Liberty, he said that a case was opened against him following a denunciation by the head of the regional branch of A Just Russia, Dmitry Bobrovskikh, and media manager Maxim Artemyev.

In addition, last fall, a criminal case was opened against Efimov repeated demonstration of Nazi symbols (Part 1 of Article 282.4 of the Criminal Code). The reason for the persecution was a Facebook post in which a Kamchatka resident compared the pro-government performer Shaman (Yaroslav Dronov) with a young man from the Hitler Youth in the film Cabaret directed by Bob Fosse.

“I kept tormented by the question, well, who? does he remind me? After all, this image is already secondary. And then, after watching Bob Fosse’s brilliant anti-fascist film “Cabaret,” I already screamed — So here it is! A blue-eyed, blond, Aryan-looking Hitler Youth in the park sings the song “The Future Belongs to Us!” SHAMAN «Let's get up!» and this is the Hitler Youth «Future…» Damn what these scum are doing to the country!” — Efimov wrote on Facebook, accompanying the post with an excerpt from the film “Cabaret” with a young man singing in a Hitler Youth uniform and a photograph of the Shaman (the author’s spelling and punctuation were preserved).

The authors of the Astra telegram channel then wrote that, According to investigators, Efimov publicly demonstrated “Nazi symbols in the form of a swastika, the coat of arms of the Third Reich and the Nazi party salute.”
