
MOSCOW, July 6 The French Ministry of Culture has banned the export from the territory country, two pistols that belonged to Napoleon Bonaparte, reports France-Presse with reference to the order of the ministry.
““The Ministry of Culture published on Saturday… a decree prohibiting the export of a pair of pistols that belonged to Napoleon I,” the agency writes.
It is noted that in the coming days, two capsule pistols with gold and silver inlay and the profile of the French emperor should be put up for auction in Fontainebleau; their cost is estimated at 1.2-1.5 million euros (1.3-1.63 million dollars). The French Ministry of Culture has introduced a ban on the export of pistols from the country in case such a desire arises from their potential purchaser.
In connection with the order of the French Ministry of Culture, the French authorities will have 30 months to try to buy back the pistols, but they have the right to abandon this intention, and then the owner of the pistols will be able to take them out of the country.
The agency indicates that Napoleon Bonaparte owned them in the period after his defeat in the fight against a coalition of countries that included the Russian Empire.
