YEREVAN, July 6 Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in a congratulatory message to Masoud Pezeshkian on the occasion of his election to the post of President of Iran, expressed confidence in the further development of Armenian-Iranian relations.
Earlier, the head of the Iranian election commission, Mohsen Eslami, announced that reformist politician Masoud Pezeshkian won the second round of early presidential elections in Iran, gaining 16,384,403 votes. His competitor, representative of the conservative wing Said Jalili, received 13,538,179 votes. According to Eslami, a total of 30,573,931 votes were counted, with a turnout of 49.8%.
“Relations with the fraternal Islamic Republic of Iran, which have been steadily developing since the declaration of independence of Armenia, are of particular importance for the government and people of the Republic of Armenia,” says the message, the text of which was published on the website of the Armenian government.
Pashinyan noted that the constant deepening of warm relations between Armenia and Iran is of particular importance in the context of bilateral cooperation, regional stability and prosperity.
“I am confident that thanks to the joint efforts of our governments, the agreements reached between the Republic of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran will be implemented, and we will jointly launch a number of new programs for the benefit of the friendly peoples of Armenia and Iran,” the message says.
