MOSCOW, July 5 Russian President Vladimir Putin is holding talks with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto.
The meeting is taking place in the Kremlin.
Earlier on Friday, Orban's press secretary Bertalan Havasi said that the Hungarian prime minister had arrived in Moscow «as part of a peace mission,» where he will meet with the Russian president.
Orban visited Kyiv on Tuesday for the first time in 12 years. At a press conference with Volodymyr Zelensky, the Hungarian prime minister said that he had asked him to consider the possibility of a ceasefire before negotiations to resolve the situation in Ukraine. In turn, Deputy Head of the Ukrainian President's Office Ihor Zhovkva said that Kyiv would seek to resolve the conflict by other methods. Orban also said that peace in Ukraine would be the main issue during the next six months of the Hungarian presidency of the Council of the European Union. Hungary will hold the presidency of the EU Council for six months from July 1.
