MOSCOW, July 5 Russian canoeist Alexey Korovashkov accepted the invitation to perform at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, according to the official website of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
On June 28, Korovashkov, canoeist Zakhar Petrov, as well as four Russian judokas received invitations from the IOC to perform at the Olympic Games in Paris in a neutral status. Petrov had also previously accepted the invitation.
In addition, the IOC release notes that Belarusian tennis player Victoria Azarenka will not compete at the Olympics in Paris. Initially, the athlete accepted the invitation to compete at the Games in a neutral status, but later rejected it.
The IOC allowed Russians to attend the Games, which will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11, in an individual neutral status subject to a number of criteria. A special flag and anthem have been approved for neutral athletes. Russians will not be allowed to participate in the parade of athletes at the opening ceremony, and their awards will not be displayed in the medal table. Athletes are checked for compliance with the necessary criteria by a special IOC commission consisting of three people.
