Parents of students at school No. 33 in Nalchik did not get up from their chairs during the performance of the Russian anthem. The “incident” is “being handled by law enforcement agencies,” RIA Novosti reports, citing the press service of the Ministry of Education of Kabardino-Balkaria.
On July 5, State Duma deputy Andrei Kartapolov published a video on his Telegram channel that shows several people sitting to the sounds of the Russian anthem in the room in front of the stage, while the rest are standing. The deputy wrote that he sent the request “to the appropriate authorities” because he believes that this is “a fact of demonstrative disrespect in the national anthem.”
The next day, the Mash Gor telegram channel reported that reports were drawn up against the parents of ninth-graders who did not stand during the anthem at graduation “for violating the official use of the anthem». Later, Kartapolov reposted this information and wrote: “They responded promptly to our requests, thank you.” At the same time, law enforcement agencies and authorities did not officially report the protocols.
Mash Gor claims that eight people listened to the anthem while sitting, including the head of a department at the energy company RusHydro and the wife of the head coach of the Russian judo team. The telegram channel does not list their names.
RusHydro confirmed to Podem that one of the parents was their employee. They believe that he “disgraced the company and insulted the 70,000-strong team of energy workers,” so he must publicly apologize “to society and the team.”
The Ministry of Education said that the identities of the adults have been “established.” “Currently, the situation is being handled by law enforcement agencies, after which measures will be taken against the parents within the framework of current legislation,” the department added.
Last spring, Kaluga deputy Alexander Lependin was fined five thousand rubles for not standing up during the playing of the Russian anthem at a meeting of deputies of the Maloyaroslavets district. He said that he could not get up because his legs hurt after training.
